He was born on January 31, 1926 to James Alex & Maude Meeks Alford in Dequeen, AR. He was raised by his great uncle & aunt Tom & Annie Alford in Glenwood, AR after his parents passing.
Proceeded in death by great grandchildren Matthew & Michael Ferguson, Great Falls, MT (Cystic Fibrosis), sister Thelma Wamsley & brother Fletcher Alford.
Survived by wife, Viola May, son Don Thomas (Malee) Alford, Great Falls, MT, daughters, Linda Reale & Tricia (Darden) Nelms, Nashville, TN, grandchildren Brandi (Clint) Hobbs, Paoli, PA, Donna (Brian) Ferguson, Great Falls, MT, Dianna (Kylen) Schuetzle, Gilbert, AZ, great grandchildren Terra Rasmussen, Nashville, TN, Phoenix Alford & Memphis Schuetzle, Gilbert, AZ and grandson by choice, Nathan Sowder, Louisville, KY
He graduated from the University of AR in 1950.
Floyd worked for 30 years in the paint industry for Glidden and Porter Paints.
He was so proud of his Naval service in WWII, serving in the invasions of Iwo Jima & Okinawa on the USS Comstock LSD-19. He was also proud of being married 72 years (to the same woman) & playing golf from age 67 to 91.
He loved his family, country music, & baseball (Braves). He loved to make people laugh with a joke or story. He was a special man, a wonderful husband & great dad.
