Etta Mae (Houchens) Aiken, 86, of Donelson, died on May 9, 2019 at the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She was the oldest daughter of Jimmie D. Houchens and Ruby Furlong Houchens of Barren County, Kentucky and wife of 59 years of the late Luther Lincoln Aiken, originally of Campbell County, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Houchens and a sister, Elizabeth Houchens Wyatt.
Survivors include a brother, James Houchens and his wife, Tressie; two sons, Charles Cochran and his wife Aileen, and Scott Aiken and his wife Valerie; and two grandchildren, Daniel and David Aiken. Etta enjoyed good conversation, millinery, genealogy, history, reading and travel.
She was a member of the National Society Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy and several other civic, hereditary and patriotic organizations.
Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 14th at Hibbett and Hailey Funeral Home. Service is at the Grace Church of the Nazarene in Donelson on Wednesday, May 15th at 10:30 AM with visitation at 10:00, followed by burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are close friends and family. Honorary pallbearers are the members of General Daniel Smith’s Rock Castle Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
