A quiet, strong man who loved the Lord and exhibited true servanthood. He loved his family, his lifelong friends and his country. He served in the United States Army and the TN National Guard. Throughout his life he taught Bible studies to many age groups young and elderly. He read the Bible through every year and was a true prayer warrior He taught in Metro Nashville schools and for thirty-two years was Director of Cottage Life at the TN Baptist Children’s Home in Brentwood, TN. He loved sports (especially NCAA basketball’s March Madness). He lettered in three sports at Donelson High School, where he was an All-City basketball player and served as Captain of the football team. He graduated from Belmont University (formerly Belmont College) and lettered four years on the basketball team. His favorite hobbies were bass fishing, gardening (horse manure was the secret ingredient) and reading about military history, especially World War II.

Sons Matt and Craig McClendon
Grandchildren Thomas and Kaley McClendon
Sister Beth (Howard) Dial
Nephew Eric Dial; niece Miriam Dial and their families
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home April, 1, 2023 at 2pm. Visitation is 12 – 2pm.
The family requests no flowers. Donations can be made to TN Baptist Children's Home, Franklin campus.
