Carol was a 1970 graduate of Hume Fogg High School in Nashville. She went on to become a Data Entry Specialist and worked for ComData for twenty-three years and Assurion Insurance for sixteen years. When considering marriage, Carol’s perspective was “It is a fine institution to visit, but I don’t want to live there.”
Carol loved to play word puzzles and read books and has acquired quite a collection in her home. She engaged the staff of restaurants she frequented so regularly they knew her by name. Carol never met a stranger and could speak with anyone. She had a great heart and would help anyone in need before she would help herself.
Carol is preceded in death by her father, Ralph L. Phillips; her mother, Lucille Lance Phillips; and her sister, Martha Holt. She is survived by her best friend and sister forever, Judy Curtis. Carol is also survived by many friends who were like family she has loved and cared for through the years.
There will be a Gathering of Friends on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 from 4pm until 8pm and Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 9am – 10am at Hermitage Funeral Home. There will be a Celebration of Life on Wednesday at 10am in the Tulip Grove Room at the funeral home with Richard Raymond, officiating. Following the service, Carol will be laid to rest in the Garden of Rachel at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
