Bill graduated from Cookeville Central High School and attended Tennessee Tech University. He enlisted in the United States Army from 1953 to 1956 and worked at AVCO / Textron for over twenty-five years.
Bill was a member of Donelson Church of Christ and loved working in his yard. He was a loving father, very patient, had a quick wit, snappy answers, read a book per week, and was not a fan of lazy people.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Flossie Pharris; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thurman and Roberta Maxwell; and his brother, Don Pharris (Carol). He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Clara Pharris; his son, Jason Pharris (Wendy) of Old Hickory; his son, Tim Harper (Lisa) of Mount Juliet; and his brother, Bob Pharris (Carolyn) of Cookeville.
The family will be receiving friends at Donelson Church of Christ, 2706 Old Lebanon Road, Nashville, on Saturday, January 27th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Bill's memory to Donelson Church of Christ or a charity of your choice. Bill will be entombed in the mausoleum at Hermitage Memorial Gardens in a private family ceremony.
