Mr. Armistead served in the Army branch of the Armed Forces during the Korean War. He enjoyed farming and watching sports. He also enjoyed taking an active part in sports by playing baseball, basketball, and later in life, enjoyed the game of golf, driving a "hole in one". To know him was to love him. He was an "amazing father, grandfather, and friend". He never met a stranger and loved his family immensely. He was known for his kind spirit, beautiful smile, love of bluegrass music, and made the best fried pies around. He will forever be missed by his family and friends.
