Dorothy A. Benke

Dorothy A. Benke, 84, of Monroe Twp., died August 26, 2010 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge. Born and raised in Jersey City, she lived in Linthicum Heights, Maryland for 35 years, before returning to New Jersey 5 years ago.

Mrs. Benke was a Past President of Friendship Squares Square Dancing, an active member of Friendship Quilters, and a longtime communicant of St. Philip Neri RC Church, all in Maryland.

Mrs. Benke was predeceased by her parents, Anna & Stephen Csaklos, and her sister, Barbara Kowalewski. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, John Benke, her daughter and son in law, Judy & Frank Brady, her son and daughter in law, John & Jill Benke, and her daughter and son in law, Diane & David Zile. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kevin Brady, Brian Brady, Adrienne Weir, Philip Benke, and Scott Benke, her great grandchildren, Jackson Brady and Benjamin Weir, and nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 7-9pm, Monday, August 30 at the Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 Rt. 9, Old Bridge, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered from St. Ambrose RC Church, Old Bridge, NJ on Tuesday, August 31 at 10:15am. Entombment will follow to Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
