Daniel E Platukis

Daniel E. Platukis, 83, of Old Bridge, NJ., passed away peacefully Saturday, February 5, 2011, at home surrounded by family. He was a Plant Manager with Marco Chemical in Linden, NJ for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He was a US Army Veteran of WW II. He is a member of the American Legion Post 177 in Old Bridge. He was also a member of the Fort Dix Rod & Gun Club, & the Englishtown Bench Rest Shooting Association. Dan was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. He was a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association. Dan was also an avid bowler having bowled a few 300’s along the way. Born in W. Hazleton, PA., he resided in Old Bridge most of his life. He is predeceased by his wife, the late Mary Ellen nee Hora of 46 years in 1999. Dan is also predeceased by a son Patrick Joseph Platukis in 2007 and a granddaughter Lynn Ann Platukis in 2005. Surviving are a son Daniel E. Platukis, Jr., of Old Bridge and a daughter Diane Ellen Platukis, also of Old Bridge. Dan also leaves a daughter in law, Sandra Gibson Platukis, 2 grandaughters Christina & Jennifer Platukis, a great grandson De Marcus Platukis and his sister, Marian A. Platukis. Friends may call on Wednesday, from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 US Hwy 9, Old Bridge, NJ 08857. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Thursday at 10:15am from St Thomas the Apostle RC Church, Old Bridge. Committal will follow at the Chestnut Hill Cemetery, E. Brunswick.
