Wendy Rae Blum, 65, of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 24th at the Olathe Hospice House. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met.
Wendy was born on “Valentine’s Day”, February 14, 1954 in Akron, Iowa to Wendell I. and Kathryn (Burris) Granstrom. She attended and graduated from Central High School in Sioux City, Iowa. Wendy married the love of her life Steve W. Blum on July 27, 1974 and together they raised their son Steve Jr.
Wendy worked thirty years in the Medical Industry. She worked in Medical Records at St. Luke’s Hospital and as office manager for Dr.’s Paul and Mike Wolpert. She was a dedicated member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Sioux City, Iowa, St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota and St. Paul Catholic Church in Olathe, Kansas. Wendy was a member of Women of St. Paul, where she served as treasurer, greeter and money counter. She will be sadly missed.
Wendy is preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and Kathryn Granstrom. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years Steve Blum of the home, son Steve Blum Jr of Olathe, Kansas and her grandson Christopher Blum. Wendy is also survived by her sister, Susie Knecht, and brothers, Terry Granstrom and his wife Karen, Tim Granstrom and his wife Cynthia, Tom Granstrom and his wife Sherry, Todd Granstrom and Troy Granstrom. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 29th at St. Paul Catholic Church 21650 West 115th Terrace Olathe, Kansas. Entombment Resurrection Catholic Cemetery Holy Family Mausoleum 83rd & Quivira Lenexa, Kansas. Visitation 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. Friday morning one hour prior to the Memorial Mass at the church.
