Steven Craig Rollins, 70, of Independence, Missouri passed away at home on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. He will forever be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he knew.
Steven was born on May 20, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri to Claude Rollins and Betty (Willcoxson) Roberts. He attended and graduated from Raytown South High School. He also attended Missouri Western University and Avila College where he earned his Master’s Degree. Steven served his country honorably in the Army Reserves.
He worked at Sprint and then as a self- contractor in information technology. He was an avid sports fan and supporter of local soccer teams KC Kickers, System Z and Liverpool. He also enjoyed watching baseball, NASCAR and the Kansas City Chiefs. One of his many accomplishments in life was a co-author of three Project Management books. He had a relentless passion for the Project Management discipline and desire to mentor and teach others professionally. He will be sadly missed.
Steven is preceded in death by his parents Claude Rollins and Betty Roberts and his maternal grandmother Mary Lee Willcoxson. He is survived by his daughter Cecelia Walsh and her husband Anthony of Olathe, Kansas and his son Jason Rollins of Overland Park, Kansas. Left behind to cherish his memory are his three grandchildren Finnegan Walsh, Emma Rollins and Hugo Rollins. Steven is also survived by the mother of his children Teresa Rollins along with his brother Greg Rollins of Kansas City, Missouri and his sister Cindy Day of Evergreen, Colorado. He leaves behind one niece and two nephews.
Steven will be cremated according to his wishes. A “Celebration of Life” will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Operation Homefront, American Diabetes Association, or the family.
