It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Louise McCuistion, age 84, on March 9, 2025. Shirley was born on February 5, 1941, in Hardin, Montana, and spent her childhood in the beautiful state of Montana.
Shirley’s interests led her to Billings, Montana, where she attended beauty school and began her career as a beautician. She was known for her warm heart and generous nature but was also very ornery and would flip you the bird!
Shirley had a love for life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed hunting for treasures at garage sales and thrift stores, always on the lookout for something special. Shopping was one of her greatest joys, and it was no surprise that while she stayed at Evergreen Living Community, she loved to play Bingo. Whether she won or lost, Shirley would cheerfully take her “bingo bucks” and head straight for the shops. She also loved playing cards and games with her friends, always bringing fun and laughter to every game.
Shirley enjoyed cooking for her friends and family, always ensuring that there was enough food to share around the table. Her cinnamon rolls and bierocks were favorites, and she took great pride in feeding those she loved.
In addition to her love of shopping, cooking, and family, Shirley found joy in painting and had a special talent for propagating plants, bringing life and color into her home. Her love of music, from rock to country, was infectious, and she could often be found dancing to her favorite tunes.
Shirley was preceded in death by Palmer and Cristina Weibert. She is survived by her daughters Valorie Heydman and Meloney Coons; grandchildren Whitney (Scott) Summers, Nichole (Randall) Maynard, Nathan (Shauna) Coons, and Courtney Sharp; great-grandchildren Nora and Theo Summers, Teghan, Michael, and Cameron Maynard, and Lily and Emily Coons.
A private celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Essential Tremor Foundation to support research and awareness of this condition that impacted Shirley’s life.
Rest in peace, Shirley. Your love and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know you.
