Robert Alden Dewey Sr., 76, of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to everyone he met. Bob was born on September 16, 1938 in Somerville, Massachusetts to John M. and Inez A. (Judkins) Dewey. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy, he then moved to Santa Barbara, California. Bob was a dedicated worker for GTE in California where he worked numerous jobs within the company before retiring after 32 years. After retirement he worked ten years as a courier for three different banks in California, Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo and for Grossman’s Imaging Center.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, John and Inez Dewey and two brothers, Carl Dewey and John Dewey. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years Karen Dewey of the home, son Robb Dewey and his wife Anita of Belton, Missouri and daughter Karen Boyle of Encinitas, California. Bob is also survived by his brother-in-law Bill McNatt of Paola, Kansas and sister-in-law Jeanene Johnson and her husband Kenny of Olathe, Kansas. Left behind to cherish his memory are several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed.
Bob will be cremated according to his wishes. Inurnment service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2nd in Monticello Cemetery 7380 Gleason Road Shawnee, Kansas.
