It has been a privilege to be able to read the thoughts and memories of Grandpa that have been left on this page. I too am thankful for Grandpa.

Grandpa was a friendly, caring man who loved being with his family. I'm glad to be a part of that loving family. He will be missed.

I am very grateful for the opportunity I had to visit Grandpa several years ago before he fell seriously ill. He was a man who obviously took pride in his family and I am thankful he could be with family when he passed.

Thought stutters slowly onward into fog ever more pitch.
Inkling sparks, spits, sputters, fades as embers of neurons cease fiery work. 
Lost is trip, college, and wedding, church work under flowering trees, the smells of house, of clothes, and Bible.
Remaining are full plates, empty rooms, antiseptic specters awkward and painfully shuffling forever onward.
The silence of one-sided recognition, wanting to love. 
Alone , the other gone.
Tearfully:  "No crying."

Richard was a good man and beloved grandpa.  He will be missed.  My condolences to his family and friends.

May God bring comfort and peace to you during this time.

Praying for you in the passing of your Dad.

One of my favorite memories is playing tag with grandpa. I didn't think he would actually chase me if I tagged him. He definitely did! I also remember him asking me to make him a sandwich for work. I was just a little kid so I made him the only sandwich I knew how, pb&j . He said he wanted it with LOTS of peanut butter. He was an awesome grandpa and will be very missed.

One day we were having a work day at our church  .Our pastor ask if we had any brave men who would't mind climbing up the side of our steeple and changing a bulb that shine on the cross at the very top of it .my father in law look at me and said son you would not mind going up their. all the men look at me and he smiled he knew I was terrified of high places. He ended up climbing that steeple and changing the bulb.I will miss him.

One day we were having a men work day at our church.Our Pastor ask if we had any brave men who would not mine climbing  up the side of our steeple and change our spot light that shine on the cross on top of the steeple. Richard look at me and smiled he said son you brave . He knew I was terrified of high places.He climbed up their and got it done.I will miss him.

I was so sorry to hear of Uncle Dick's passing.  I always thought that he and my dad, Keith, had a strong family resemblance.  I didn't know him well but I have memories of his visits to Indiana and remember him being soft spoken, having a good sense of humor, and being so proud of his family.  I wish you all comfort and I hope that my dad is enjoying visiting with his brother.

Richard was a wonderful Christian man that was always smiling and willing to help at the Church in Ottawa.  

I have one story that I will never forget.  One Sunday morning we were getting ready for church to start and I had come out of the lady's room and was going to the side office and I noticed Richard running behind me saying sister Sheila wait wait.  I turned around he said your skirt is tucked in your panty hose..   I was so embarrassed but he just laughed and laughed...

This is a poem that our pastor Gary Clark read at my dad's funeral. I don't know the author of the poem.

Heaven
I've found a place where I can be free,
I've found a whole new beginning just made for me. I know only peace, and I never feel pain: days are full of sunshine and never the rain. I'm no longer old I've recovered my youth, and all my dreams have become my truth. I can smile, I can laugh, I can walk, I can run: I can hear every whisper, I can see past the sun. My body is whole, and my mind is so clear: I know all the answers and I'm free from all fear. I know why you mourn me, I see how you weep: Your heart's full of aching from a love that was deep. And I am grateful for loved ones that hold me so dear, but remember, I've found a better place here. I will be there beside you, always nearby: so don't mourn for me long, nor forever cry. And whenever your sorrow bares down on your heart, think not of my ending, but of my new start. For on earth there's no joy that I'd ever see: to compare to the joy of God smiling at me.

short story...... so we used to have this little vega car that sat praticaly on the ground. Well, my dad was taking me to a school function that I had to dress up for. Anybody that knows me knows I am absolutely terrified of mice and snakes. Well, we are on our way to school when what should run across my bare legs but a mouse. I screamed like a banchie and my legs went up on the dash and stayed there. My dad laughed so hard all the way to school, I think he had a worped sense of humor, it wasnt funny to me at all, then. Now I look back and I'll admit it might have been a little funny, but just a little. Love you dad.

We are rejoicing that your dad is in Heaven, but we are so sorry for your loss. Praying for you and your family during this time!
