Priscilla was born on May 20, 1941. Patty, as her family lovingly called her, was the first girl born to Emory Haygood and Pearl (Brown) Haygood. Patty had two older brothers Baby Haygood, and Charles Emory. She had three younger sisters whom she loved and they each adored her. JoAnn Small, of Coco, FL., the late Mary Jane Haygood, and Loretta Hilton of Shawnee.OK. One more brother, Johnny Michael and the Haygood family was complete.
Priscilla met and fell in love with Larry Mills in 1959. To this marriage, the Lord blessed Larry and Priscilla with four beautiful children. Randy Allen of Emporia, KS., Roger Wayne of Richmond, KS., Rebecca (Becky) Colleen of Kansas and Priscilla Jane (Janie) of Garnett, KS.
Larry and Priscilla raised their little family on various farms. The kids got their hard work ethics from the way they were brought up on the farm from hauling hay to plowing fields. All four of the kids undoubtedly knew that they were loved.
Priscilla was not just a homemaker but held many different jobs, she was a laborer at a couple of factories in Olathe, KS. She was a preschool teacher where she had the opportunity to mold little lives and share the love of the Lord with so many little children. She helped raise her grandchildren, gave them all the love and encouragement as only she could. Roger (Buddy) was a very special young man to her. Not only her grandson, but more like another son. She took him in, loved him, nurtured him and provided the best home life for him that she could.
If Patsy were not working or cleaning, more than likely you would find her making someone cookies. Oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip or peanut butter if you ask for it, she would make them. Patsy was your gal. I mean who doesn’t like a good homemade cookie? She loved to cook for her family, and anyone who stopped by. She always had a place set for anyone who dropped by. And offered them a listening ear and a kind word.
She loved the Lord, gave Him thanks for everything that she had. She would tell anyone who listened, what He had brought her through or what He was doing in her life. She loved the Lord and loved to sing His praises. She was delighted knowing that her children and grandchildren knew the Lord. It touched her heart to hear them speak about Jesus and what He was doing in their lives.
Priscilla was welcomed into heaven by her parents, step-father Lester Taylor, brothers Baby Haygood, Charles and Johnny Michael, sister Mary Jane, grandson Roger (Buddy), and great-granddaughter Jasmine. Those left to cherish her memory are her children Randy, Roger, Becky and Janie. Her sisters JoAnn Small and Loretta Hilton. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the wonderful people at Good Shephard Hospice for their love and care.
