Our beautiful and beloved Patricia (Patti) Lynn Scott, age 62, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away peacefully in her sleep while in hospice care, on October 10, 2024, after a courageous 3 year battle with endometrial cancer.
Patti was born March 5, 1962 in Bellflower, CA to Robert Gendle and Jacqueline (Gendle) Azzara. She was also raised by her stepfather, Matthew Azzara, from the time she was 13. She attended Thomas Jefferson Elementary, Washington Junior High, and Bellflower High School for her freshman year of High School. When the family moved from Bellflower to Los Alamitos (Rossmoor), she attended and graduated from Los Alamitos High School in 1980. After High School she attended Cypress College, Cypress, CA.
Patti’s first job out of High School was as a daycare teacher at Montessori Greenhouse Preschool, Los Alamitos. She worked retail as a sales associate for Beno’s Department Store. She had a long career with Bergen Brunswig in the City of Orange, CA, as a Records Management Technician. She was laid off from Bergen and then stayed home to raise her son. She later worked daycare at St. Hedwig’s in Los Alamitos and had a brief, small cleaning business. When she and her husband moved to Olathe, Kansas in 2015 she worked at Prince of Peace parish and finally Dollar Tree in Olathe, KS.
In 1980 Patti met the love of her life Glenn P. Scott through Glenn’s Sister Gloria. Patti and Gloria were work friends. Patti and Glenn dated for some years and finally married May 28, 1989. They had one son Glenn J. Scott born November 28, 1992, the light of their lives. They were married for 35 years and had a wonderful life together. Glenn, being a dedicated and loving husband, cared for Patti all during her battle with cancer up to the last day of her life.
In her youth and teen years, Patti was a great student, cheerleader, athlete, involved in her church, and loved the outdoors. She was well liked by her teachers and peers. She was competitive in sports. She was very patriotic, loved football, the LA Rams her favorite football team, the LA Dodgers, NHRA Racing, and the US Olympics. She was a devout Catholic. She loved being a Mom. Her hobbies were, reading, piano, quilting, needlepoint, scrapbooking, movies, oldies music and classic rock. She was hard working and dedicated to her family. She was sensitive, kind, compassionate, spiritual, prayerful and loved God.
Patti is preceded in death by: Her father Robert Gendle, mother Jacqueline Azzara, stepfather Matthew Azzara, mother-in-law Sharon Scott, father-in-law George Scott, sister-in-law Sally Carrillo; brother-in-law Eric Carrillo, and niece Melissa Schmidt. Patti is survived by: Her husband Glenn P. Scott, son Glenn J. Scott. Brothers: Bob Gendle (Diane), Tim Gendle (Belinda), Mark Gendle (Nancy), and John Azzara (Eileen). Sister: Terri (Gendle) Schmidt. Sister-in-law: Gloria Robinson (Pat). Nieces: Kim McCabe (Joe), Cindy Carrillo, Katherine Carrillo, Samantha Hager (Hayden), Carrie Evon (Nicholas), Amy Wilde (Richard), Rachel Gilbert (Brad), Alysha Gendle. Nephews: Adam Robinson (Miranda), Brodie Robinson, Kyle Gendle (Stacey), Adam Gendle, Aaron Gendle (Natalie), Nathan Gendle (Reina). Aunts: Gloria Cox, Beverly Erdei (Ron). And numerous cousins.
A visitation for Patricia will be held Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 105 E. Loula Street, Olathe, KS 66061, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM.
