At heart, Nancy Wheeler was a homemaker, a term not much heard today but a title she wore proudly. Her home reflected her interests in decorating, quilting, baking, gardening and of course her family.
Nancy began life on November 6, 1953 in Hackensack, NJ. Her mother Florence Reuter, was a homemaker and her father, Paul was an electrical engineer. She was the youngest of three children. Her brother Rick was born in 1944 and her brother Doug was born in 1951. She graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She married her first husband Dennis (Joe) Trampel in March of 1979. Daughter Tiffany was born in 1981, and son Nick in 1983.
She married Al Wheeler on July 8, 1988 with the ceremony taking place in her flower filled garden.
Known in the family as the Spirit of Christmas or the Christmas Fairy, Nancy’s many talents were on display each December. The house was a glow with lighted trees in every room, a wreath on the door and the smell of freshly baked cookies. Everyone was welcome and everyone felt cared for and loved. That was Nancy’s true gift at Christmas and throughout the year she always gave of herself and made home the center of the lives of her family.
