Mary Lula Parks, 85, of Springhill, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met. Mary was born on January 26, 1932 in Melrose, New Mexico to Hazel Allie Conwill and Calvin Lee Lary. She attended and graduated from Melrose High School. She married the love of her life John Edward Parks on September 14, 1950. Mary was a member of First Christian Church in Olathe, Kansas and attended United Methodist Church in Spring Hill, Kansas. She worked in the Olathe School District Cafeteria, along with being a devoted mother, babysitter and housewife. She loved to travel, knit, quilt, bowl, sew and best of all have coffee with friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Parks, son, Carl Edward Parks, her parents Hazel and Calvin Lary, three brothers, Calvin Lee Lary Jr., Benjamin Lary, Otho Lary; four sisters Alleen Josephine Sims, Francess Hilda Latham, Blanch Lynetta Atwell and Oletha Chamness. She is survived by her son Ronald G. Parks and his wife Susan of Paola, Kansas. Left behind to cherish her memory are her three grandchildren, Christine Franks, and her husband Keith of Redfield, Kansas, Jeramiah G. Parks and his wife Victoria of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Heather Parks of Richmond, Kansas. She will be sadly missed by her nine great grandchildren: Loretta Franks, Patsy Franks, Liberty Franks, Kyle Franks, John Parks, James Parks, Ashton Parks, Korbyn Palmer, Whiley Parks.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 24th at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 E. Loula St. Olathe, KS. Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery 3223 S.18th Street Kansas City, KS. Visitation 6:00--8:00 p.m. Monday, October 23rd at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Myasthina Gravis, 2300 Myers Blvd., Kansas City, MO. or Diabetic Group.
