Mark was born June 12, 1965 to Clayton and Cynthia Ford in Mission, Kansas. After Mark graduated Pembroke Hill in 1983, he went on to study at Houghton College from 1983-1984 and at Mid-America Nazarene College from 1984 until his graduation in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Business Administration. He later went on to obtain a Juris Doctor from University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law in 1990, a Master of Business Administration from University of Kansas in 1997, and a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Management from University of Pennsylvania in 2011. Shortly after graduating with his law degree, he began his career in education at his alma mater now known as MidAmerica Nazarene University where he taught business and law, eventually moving into administration before finally becoming Vice President for Strategic Expansion.
In 1985, Mark met Christine (Christy) Marlee Morrow at Mid-America Nazarene College at a dorm open house. Mark and Christy were married in 1990. They went on to have three daughters: Emily Grace, Rachel Elisabeth, and Olivia Rose Ford.
Mark and Christy moved into their dream home, a 1924 Dutch Colonial, while pregnant with Rachel Elisabeth. One of Mark’s favorite pastimes was taking care of and fixing the house. He spent years renovating it and filling it with photos, keepsakes, and memories.
As much as he loved his home in Kansas, Mark loved travel. He took great pride in planning out family vacations months in advance and checking all 50 states and several countries off of his travel list. Visiting museums, sitting by the ocean, riding roller coasters and walking through national parks with his family were some of his most joyful moments. As he planned, he made sure to cross some items off his bucket list and schedule some fun for his girls, but his main priority was finding ways to make his wife that he so deeply adored smile.
When he was eight years old, he gave his life to Christ. That commitment led to a life centered around God. Mark entered heaven to join father Clayton Ford, father-in-law Charles Morrow, and daughter Emily Grace Ford.
He is survived by his wife Christine Ford, daughters Rachel and Olivia Ford, and mother Cynthia (Don) Ford-Francis of Olathe, Kansas; sister Melanie (Todd) Hayes of Shawnee, Kansas; mother-in-law Joyce Morrow and sister-in-laws Rebecca (Andrew) Lee and Deborah (Jeff) Hallowell of Olathe, Kansas; as well as ten nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Westside Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, February 25th at 10:00 AM followed by an 11:00 AM memorial service.
