Lloyd Eugene Rex Jr, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Monday, March 31st, 2025, at 5:18 PM, after a courageous battle with metastatic cancer and complications related to COPD. He was surrounded by love in his final moments.
Born January 1st, 1963, with a fierce spirit and a heart full of grit, Lloyd lived life on his own terms. He was known for his love of the outdoors, fishing, cookouts, and the open road—often on two wheels. A proud biker, Lloyd found brotherhood among his fellow riders, many of whom became lifelong friends. His rugged presence and tough exterior were matched only by the size of his heart. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, even when it came at great cost to himself.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his children Lloyd Rex III (Bubba), Erica Unger(Josh), Valerie Griffin(Kenny), Kimberly Dougan(Justin), and a nephew who was like a son Dylan Fraser(Kali). Grandchildren Wyatte, Peyton, Paxton, Harmony, Khi'lynn, Kingston, Kailoni, Khaleesi, Khaliya, Ariana, Conner, Alexander, and Kimber. As well as nieces Jessica(Jeff), Carly, Savannah, Kimberly, and Lillian. As a grand-uncle Lloyd leaves behind Bronson, MaKayla, Jaycie, Addison, and Mason.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Deborah Rex; his sister, Teresa Rex Anschutz; his father, Lloyd Rex Sr, and many others who now welcome him home. He is survived by his mother, Inez Rex of Texas; his sister, Donna Rex Payne of Texas; and his brother, Sidney Gene Rex also of Texas.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless stories of the roads traveled, the fish caught (and the ones that got away), and the memories made along the way.
The world feels a little quieter without the roar of his engine and the splash of his line hitting the water.
A celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held on Saturday, April 19th at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home in Olathe, KS. Visitation will start at 10am, with the memorial service happening at 11am. We will be having a reception after a short graveside service (Pleasant Valley Cemetery) further details will follow.
In the meantime, his family asks that you remember him with love, laughter, and maybe a ride in his honor.
