Linda Gay Craighead

Born on May 19, 1946, in Loraine, Texas, Linda was a source of kindness, grace, and quiet strength. She dedicated her life to loving others deeply—first as a devoted daughter, then as a beloved wife, nurturing mother, cherished grandmother, and loyal friend. Her warmth was felt in every homemade meal and in her love of flowers—especially the roses and pansies that brought her so much joy and reflected the gentle beauty she shared with the world.

Linda married the love of her life, Wes Craighead, and together they built a home by adopting two girls Lisa and Tonya that was grounded in compassion, laughter, and love over the years.

In her later years, Linda shared her life with Robert Sloggett and his family—her husband and loved ones in heart and in every way that mattered. Together, they created many cherished memories, especially through their shared love of traveling and discovering new places side by side.

She treasured deep friendships, especially the one she shared with her dear friend Linda. Their connection was filled with laughter, late-night cards and conversations, shared wisdom, and unwavering support.

She was a steady presence in the lives of those she cared for and a quiet encourager to all who crossed her path.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wes Craighead, her beloved daughter Tonya Craighead, and her grandson Givon Jasper. She is survived by her blended family with Robert; five children, Lisa, Robert, Ame, Chrissy, Geoff; her five siblings, John, Dwain, Carolyn, Terry, Sharky; her ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends who will carry her memory forward with love.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Linda by planting something beautiful in her memory—especially roses or impatiens, which she dearly loved and filled her life with color and meaning.

A memorial service for Linda will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 105 E. Loula Street, Olathe, KS 66061.
