Kansas – Laura Lee Zeiger, age 71, died peacefully surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, March 24th, 2021.
She is survived by her husband Albert (Sandy) Zeiger and her son Erik along with her sisters Marlene Rowe (Michael) and Lou Ann Cline (Rick). Laura was blessed by a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Laura was a graduate of Bishop Miege High School. She studied at Emporia State University and earned her Business Degree from MidAmerica Nazarene University.
Laura devoted her entire career to the School of Medicine at the University of Kansas. She was dedicated to helping and encouraging medical students and retired after an incredible 45-year career as Assistant Dean of the School of Medicine. Through her work in Student Affairs, Laura positively impacted thousands of doctors in Kansas City and across the country.
Family was very important to Laura who loved hosting and attending gatherings. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and caring for her koi pond. Camping and hiking brought her joy from the hills of South Dakota to the beaches of California to lake life in the Ozarks. Family and friends remember her as a lifelong lover of animals with a big heart for dogs. Laura was a sports fanatic devoted to Jayhawk basketball, the Chiefs and the Royals.
Laura’s Celebration of Life visitation will be on Tuesday, March 30th from 6:30 – 9:00 pm at Olathe Christian Church (1115 S. Ridgeview Rd, Olathe, KS). We will pause for moments of reflection and sharing at 7:15 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Always and Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary (23595 W 223rd St, Spring Hill, KS 66083).
