She was born on June 17, 1948, to B.W. (Bill) and Dorothy (Cox) Wilson in Colorado Springs, CO. Kristin attended school there until she was eleven, when her family moved to Shawnee, KS. She attended Shawnee Elementary School, Hocker Grove Middle School, and Graduated Shawnee Mission North High School in 1966.
After high school, Kristin attended Kansas City Art Institute where she loved painting watercolors. Her next adventure was attending Hayes Beauty School, where she became a very talented hairdresser. Lasleys was the first shop she worked at, followed by Faye’s Beauty Shop in Overland Park, KS. After a few years, she developed trouble with her wrist from back combing, so she went on to work at Milburn Golf and Country Club as a bookkeeper, later becoming an administrative assistant. In her free time, Kristin enjoyed concerts in Washington, D.C., Broadway, and several other towns to see country stars and to take pictures, which was one of her favorite hobbies.
In 1988, she met the love of her life, Gerold, while she was working at the Country Club. After the birth of their son, Henry Janzen, she became a homemaker in Kansas City, MO. In 1994, they made their home in Olathe, KS. Kristin was a very supportive mom to Henry’s musical activities, such as piano, clarinet, saxophone, and guitar. She also kept busy with all her artistic talents and interests including: calligraphy, antiquing, painting, cooking, and going to ACF National Conventions. In addition, she also enjoyed taking two trips with her family to see relatives in Germany.
Kristin is survived by her husband, Gerold Janzen and their son, Henry G. Janzen; sister Margo (Wilson) Brashears (husband Archie); three brother-in-laws, Walter Janzen (wife Jane), Enno Janzen (wife Hilde), Werner Janzen (wife Sieglinde); sister-in-law, Janel Janzen, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kristin is preceded by her parents, B.W. (Bill) and Dorothy (Cox) Wilson; brother-in-law, Heinz Janzen; nephew, Michael Brashears and niece, Michelle Brashears.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to First Christian Church food closet at 201 E. Loula, Olathe, KS, 66061.
