Kevin Charles McDowell

Kevin Charles McDowell, 56, of Olathe, Kan. passed away October 12, 2011. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Saturday October 15, 2011 at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held in Prairie Home Cemetery in LaCygne, Kansas.

Kevin was born August 23, 1955 in Kansas City, MO to Enos & Lois McDowell. He graduated from Olathe High School in 1973 then enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Medic. After the Navy he went to work for the Sheet Metal Local #2 from 1979 until he retired in 2003. Kevin was selfless, generous, outgoing and hilarious to anyone who ever came in contact with him. Kevin had a loving heart to the needs of those around him and he never knew a stranger. Some of things he loved to do was umpire softball for the USSSA, listening to music and was a handyman extraordinaire. He loved to surround himself with his wonderful family and friends. Kevin was a loving and very proud father and will be missed very dearly.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Melissa; son, Matthew McDowell of the home; daughter, Haley McDowell and husband Cory Patterson of Olathe, KS; brother, Keith (Charlene) McDowell of Chandler, AZ; sister, Lynne (Tim) Hallier of Horton, KS; step-mother, Ellean McDowell of Olathe, KS; step-brothers, Craig Bridgeforth of Overland Park, KS and David Bridgeforth of San Antonio, TX; step-children, Crystal Lacy, Michael Lacy and Allison Lacy; 6 nieces and nephews.
