Joseph Thomas Martin Jr., 66, of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Menorah Medical Center. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather brother, uncle and friend to everyone he knew.
“Buddy” as he was known by his family and friends was born on October 26, 1956 in Ogden, Kansas to Joseph Thomas Sr. and Mary (Caputo) Martin. He attended and graduated from Chapman High School in Chapman, Kansas. He earned his Master’s Teaching Degree at K-State University in Manhattan, Kansas.
Joseph met the love of his life, Deborah Jean Bolin, they were married on November 11, 1983. Together they raised their three children, Joseph, Trenton and Mitchell. He served as an elementary school teacher. He also worked as a mechanic, and enjoyed spending his free time working on model airplanes, tanks and other collectables.
Joseph was a family man who enjoyed attending baseball games with his three sons. He was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. Nothing gave him more pleasure in life than the time he spent with his three grandchildren. He will be sadly missed.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-eight years Deborah Martin of the home. He is survived by his three sons, Joseph Thomas Martin III and his wife Celeste of Blue Springs, Missouri, Trenton Alexander Martin (Victoria) of Shawnee, Kansas and Mitchell Allen Martin (Haley Paine) of Olathe, Kansas. Left behind to cherish his memory are his three grandchildren, Ridley Martin, Carter Morris and O’Dette Burnett Martin. He will be sadly missed by his brother, Frank “Scotter” Martin and his wife Suzanne of Jonesboro, Arkansas and a sister Karen Walker of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Joseph will be cremated according to his wishes. A “Celebration of Life” honoring Joseph Thomas Martin Jr. will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: American Diabetes Association 7285 West 132nd Street Overland Park, Kansas 66213.
