Jim had a zest for life, enjoying traveling, camping, spending time with his grandkids, and going to the casino. He was a member of UAW 1021 and retired from Delco Battery in 1999 after a 25 year career. He was also a part of the Masonic Lodge of Spring Hill.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, James Lyle and Thelma Faye (King) Newell, and first wife, Teresa Ann (Toomes).
Jim leaves behind his wife of 42 years, JoAnn (Cook), children Jimmie (Penny) Newell of Lake of the Ozarks, Jeannie (Kenny) Beers of Lexington, TN, and stepchildren Michelle (Matt) Hays of Overland Park, and Becky Rogers of Olathe, along with 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Olathe Medical Center, especially Hailey, Tatum, and Jami, for their care and compassion.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 19, 2023, from 4-6 PM at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula, Olathe, KS 66061.
