Jesse Eldon Stone, a favored son of the great state of Kansas, concluded his stay on planet earth the 27th day of April in the year of our lord 2013 (Gregorian calendar). Jesse had spent the majority of his 30 years in the middle of the United States of America within the confines of the 21st century, though there were brief sojourns to the tip of Florida and an extended stay of 13 years in the 22nd century. Jesse was a confirmed bachelor from birth. He did, however, string along many young women, teachers, and health professionals with his charismatic smile and promises of nylons and chocolate bars.
He attended the Blue Valley school system and was a member of the first graduating class of Blue Valley West high school in May of 2003. Though Jesse never utilized his high school degree for job procurement but still maintained that kids should stay in school.
Jesse frequented Lakemary Center in Olathe, KS during the latter part of his stay in the 22nd century. He attended Lakemary Center on a daily basis and enjoyed his time in the Valued Activities program. He augmented his activities at Lakemary Center with regular field trips to Worley's Liquor in Stanley and occasional visits at Club Med (Olathe Medical Center).
Jesse loved noises and music, but mostly noises - loud noises. And I mean he l o v e d noises. Crashes were a particular favorite, but also breaking glass, pots and pans clanking together, tools dropped on concrete, large fireworks, thunder, and the doppler effect of the sound of passing motorcycles or cars. Much to the author's annoyance, he also seemed to enjoy dogs barking and ABBA.
His musical taste was wide and varied. He especially enjoyed musicals and live concerts. He was particularly fond of Jimmy Buffet and attended his concerts when Jimmy played in Kansas City.
Jesse could get family and friends to do rather stupid things in attempts to entertain him. All family members had a oral sound they would make to get Jesse to smile or laugh. These could be popping noises, clicks, growls, various animal sounds, or motor boat imitations. Jesse was very gracious about these attempts at communication and would usually smile no matter how bad the performance. A favorite trick of Jesse's was to coerce drivers to swerve and run over rumble strips on the shoulder of the highway. No one is certain why Jesse would so enjoy tires being prematurely worn in such a fashion.
Amusement parks and carnivals were a favorite past-time of Jesse's. He usually attended Old Settlers Days in Olathe and visited Disney World in Orlando. He loved roller coasters, the Tilt-o-Whirl, Octopus, and Scrambler - basically any ride involving rapid acceleration.
During Jesse's many visits to Florida, he would usually swim with dolphins. This was carried out in a regulated environment with the assistance of staff and friends at Island Dolphin Care in Key Largo.
Jesse is preceded in death by his loving grandfather Clyde Stone and his doting grandmother Joyce Worley. He leaves behind his loving parents Jeffrey and Lynette Stone, brothers Killian and Logan Stone of Leawood, KS; father Wesley Stone of Victoria, TX, brother Eli Stone, stepmother Sheryl Stone-Brewer, and stepsister Haylee Drury of Hardin, MO; grandfather Fred Worley of Olathe, KS; grandmother Donna Stone-Sassaman and her husband, Roy Sassaman of Victoria, TX.
Jesse Eldon Stone will be greatly missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, multitude of friends, broken hearted women, and hangers-on.
A visitation for Jesse will be held Thursday May 2, 2013 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula St, Olathe, KS. A celebration of life will be conducted at 1pm, Friday, May 3rd, at Legacy Christian Church, 10150 Antioch, Overland Park, KS. For both occasions, island attire and attitude are requested. Sparklers optional.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to “Friends of JCDS" or Jesse Stone Memorial Fund-Lakemary Valued Activities Program."
