James "Jim" H. Lester, 81, of Olathe Kansas, passed away at home on Monday, January 9, 2023. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather and friend to everyone he knew.
Jim was born on March 26, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri to Paul W. Lester and Mary (Braunam) Lester. After high school, he was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country. He was sent to Vietnam and served in the advanced infantry. Jim met the love of his life Linda M Botts. They were married on January 20, 1968. Together they raised their two boys, Allen and Steven.
Jim worked as a mechanic for 40+ years. He also worked for Olathe School District USD 233 for 24 years. He was a member of Olathe Police Department's Citizen Academy as well as Johnson County Sheriff's Department Citizen Academy. Jim enjoyed being outdoors-gardening, fishing, and hunting as well as playing computer games and watching old westerns on TV. Jim was well known in the neighborhood as dependable and helpful to anyone who was in need.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Mary, his loving wife, Linda and his loving son Allen Lee Lester who passed away November 13, 1979. He is survived by his son Steven Lester and wife Carla of the home and granddaughter, Samantha Lester. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
