Ernest Holland passed away April 29th, 2021 surrounded by family in Olathe, KS. He has five grandchildren and two great grandchildren which he enjoyed spending time with. He grew up in Olathe with three siblings Charles Holland of Olathe, KS, Sara Holland of Grain Valley, MO, and preceded in death James Holland of Kansas City, MO. Ernest was a journeyman carpenter with the Kansas City Carpenters Union since 1984. He was an elected trustee of his Local 714. Ernest with brother Charles Holland attended Prairie Star school in Olathe which was a one room school house for first and second grade. His remaining elementary education was attended at Central Elementary, Olathe Junior High, and graduate of Olathe Senior High. He was a Boy Scout and Explorer with his uncle Leland Buntin leading the group. Ernest's father Emory Holland managed a Phillips 66 gas station in Olathe, KS at the corner of 7 Highway and Park Street. His brother Charles Holland worked there with their father and Ernest enjoyed assisting his brother at the gas station when they were ages 10 and 9. Ernest's love of woodworking helped him share his creations with his loved ones. He made many pieces of furniture, home decor, canes, and other useful tools and shared them with everyone. When he was not working on his wood projects or house projects he enjoyed fishing and spending a lot of his time outdoors. He was always the first to offer help to anyone in need and never knew a stranger. He will be missed by anyone who met him. Ernest was taken from us too soon by glioblastoma, only five months from diagnosis, which is a very aggressive form of cancer. The family would ask you to donate to the American Cancer Society to help in the research of this terrible disease that discreminates against no one.
