Edna Rebecca Cunningham Blume, 94, of Olathe was a Mayflower descendant. She was born June 23, 1921 in Bangor, Maine in her grandparents two story house and was the daughter of Guy and Florence Cunningham. Her father died before she was 1 year old. She was raised by her stepfather Rodney Badershall and mother Florence. She moved to Bradley Maine at the age of 7 and graduated from Old Town High School in 1939.
During WWII Edna worked for the United States Government for two and a half years in the office of the AAF supply department at the Presque Isle Army Air Field where she met and married Donald Lee Blume in 1945. In 1947 the happy couple moved to Lenexa Kansas where she resided the remainder of her life. She joined Salem Lutheran Church of Lenexa in 1949 and has remained a member until her death on July 30, 2015. Together Edna & Donald founded the Olathe Block Company where she kept the company books.
She is preceded in death by her parents Guy and Florence Cunningham, stepfather, Rodney Badershall, brother, Linwood Cunningham and her loving husband of 69 years Donald.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Bonnie Beets and Joyce Fricke, grandchildren, Bryan Beets, Anneliese and Kirsten Fricke and great granddaughter Amelie Beets.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 E. Loula St. Olathe, KS 66061. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at the Salem Lutheran Church 9135 Haskins Street, Lenexa Kansas with burial following in Lenexa Cemetery.
