Saturday, March 23, 2019. He was born January 19, 1947 in Garden City, KS, the son of Raymond D. Hacker, Sr. and Marilyn Feral (Hands) Hacker.
Cliff graduated from Ulysses, Kansas High School in 1965. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force serving from 1967 through 1976 as an Avionics Instrument Repair Specialist. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He moved to Emporia KS to begin studies at Emporia State University. He was a Deputy with the Lyon County Sheriff’s office from 1978 to 1984. He was the elected Lyon County Sheriff in 1984 and served in that capacity until 2005. He then became an Investigator for the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts until the time of his retirement in March of 2012.
At that time, Cliff and his wife, Linda, moved to the Prairie Highlands Golf Course Community in Olathe, KS. He enjoyed 7 years of golfing, friendship, and traveling with friends.
Clifford graduated from Wichita State University with a BS, Administration of Justice degree. He was a District 8 Governor and past president of the Kansas Peace Officers Association, and Head of the legislative committee of the Kansas Sheriff’s Association. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #5 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Since retirement, he was an active member of the Prairie Highlands Golf Course. He was also a founding member of the Prairie Highlands Brew Crew.
He is survived by his wife Linda and son Daniel Zimmerman and wife Amanda of New Freedom Pennsylvania, brothers, Chuck Hacker and wife Evelyn of Ulysses, Kansas; Justin Hacker and wife Lauren of Nashville, TN, a sister, Mary Ann Grimes and husband Roger of Amarillo, Texas, and Step Mother Anne Hacker of Stillwater, OK.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Marilyn Black on February 6, 2012;
Raymond D. Hacker Sr. on April 20, 2012; and brothers , Raymond (Junior) Hacker Jr., and Forrest (Frosty) Dean Hacker.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Cliff’s name to the Veterans Community Project. Donations may be left at the funeral home. Or made directly to the project. The address is 8825 Troost Avenue, KCMO 64131.
Services are scheduled for 2PM Monday, April 1, 2019 in Olathe, KS, at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula Street, Olathe, KS.
