Charles Dale Hopkins

Charles was born on December 10, 1935, in Gravitt, Arkansas to Charles Coleman and Della Halpain Hopkins. Charles moved to Paola, Kansas in high school, where he met the love of his life, Susana. Susana was originally from Mexico and was attending Ursuline Academy to learn English. Charles learned Spanish so he could communicate better with Susana and her family. The couple wed in 1956. They ran a restaurant in Paola, Kansas then moved to Parral, Chihuahua Mexico for 4 years before moving to their permanent home of Olathe, Kansas. They had 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Charles was an HVAC tech until he retired.

Charles was loved by everyone he met and enjoyed making people laugh. He loved hosting friends and family and had a camcorder in his hand at every gathering. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, grilling, watching westerns, the Chiefs and Royals. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Charles is survived by his wife of 67 years, Susana; daughter, Sandra (Bill) Jorgensen of Overland Park, Kansas, Charles (Brenda) Hopkins of Mt. Ida, Arkansas, Monica Brockling of Overland Park, Kansas, Rosie (Steve) Carlins of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and Becky (James) Robson of Olathe Kansas; grandchildren Paul Jorgensen, Charles Jorgensen, Aaron Jorgensen, Valerie Rice, Julie Tracy, Aaron Sathers, Mandy Bannister, Hannah LoScalzo, Matthew Carlins, Rachel Carlins, Megan Robson, Samantha Robson, Joseph Robson; great grandchildren, Dylan Tracy, Kaitlyn Tracy, Logan Rice, Charlie Rice, Della Bannister, Frankie Bannister, Aurora LoScalzo, Andreas LoScalzo, Annie Newell, Ellie Newell, Kaitlynn Sathers, Samuel Sathers, Eli Sathers; great great grandchildren, Cullen Sathers and Ellie Sathers; siblings Wanda Guillam, Bobby Hopkins, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded by siblings Dorothy Squire, Phillip Squire, Betty Jean Hopkins, Marie Railsback, Colleen Skaggs.

A Gathering for Charles will be held Friday, February 10, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 105 E. Loula Street, Olathe, KS 66061.
