Carroll was born in Council Grove, Kansas on September 27, 1934 to Clyde and Ruby Banks.
He went on to school at The Kansas School for the Deaf, where he met his future wife Charlotte.
Carroll worked for the Kansas City Star newspaper for 40 years as a controller.
Carroll and Charlotte raised four children, Jeffrey Lee (Mark) from Los Angeles, California, Gerry Lindsay from Olathe, Kansas, Jacqueline Sue Baker from Newberg, Oregon and Steve Jay (Jody) from Grandview, Missouri.
They have four grandchildren, Anthony and Cameron Banks, Tiffany and Richard Evey. Also, four great grandchildren, Katelyn, Trevor, Geno and David Evey.
Carroll was a very loving husband, a wonderful father and a very proud grandfather and great-grandfather, loved, and lived life to the fullest! Rest in Paradise Carroll Lee!
Carroll will be cremated according to his wishes. A Memorial service is scheduled for 3p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. Visitation 2-3p.m. Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: DCC/Deaf Culture Center 455 East Park Street Olathe, Kansas 66061.
