Betty Lou Moore née (Haynes), born March 16, 1936 went peacefully to her maker on April 21, 2024 at age 88. Betty grew up on a farm during the depression in Nemaha, Nebraska. At age 13, she met her future husband, Branson Moore. They were married June 12, 1955.
Betty had a gift of hospitality, welcoming family and friends into their home. She was an amazing cook, especially known for her pea salad, potato salad, porcupine meatballs, and maraschino cherry cookies. She had a great sense of style. She was a wonderful mom who kept her family involved in sports, school, clubs, and church. Betty was very involved in the Christian Church and United Church of Christ in Lincoln, Nebraska, Fargo, North Dakota, and Olathe, Kansas, working in various capacities, including volunteering with the Johnson County IHN.
Betty is survived by her husband, Branson, and children, Lindsay Coleman (Don) of Mesa, Arizona, Vanessa Roberts (Les) of Sumter, South Carolina, and Todd Moore (Lori Wilson), of Olathe, Kansas. Betty is also survived by two brothers, Gerald Haynes of Beatrice, Nebraska, and Mark Haynes (Sandy) of Lampe, MO. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Jenna Miller (John), NY, Pierce Roberts (Ana) FL, Chalker Coleman (Devon) ID, Nash Coleman, AZ, Lauren Moore, MO, Lindon Coleman, AZ, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Larry and Howard Haynes preceded her in passing, as well as a grandson, Branson Wilson Moore.
Visitation at 2:00 p.m. and Celebration of Life at 3:00 p.m. followed by a reception will be Saturday, June 8, 2024 at First Christian Church, 200 E. Loula St., Olathe, KS. 66061. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Christian Church, Olathe, KS or the Alzheimer's Association.
