Wilma Elizabeth “Betty” (Richards) Gladden was born November 25, 1930, in Girard, Kansas, to parents Earl B. & Wilma Leola (Yeats) Richards and went to sing with the angels on June 25, 2013. Elizabeth was a graduate of Stillwater High School and Wesley School of Nursing. She began her 40-plus years of nursing as the nurse aboard Santa Fe Railroad passenger trains. She retired from Presbyterian Hospital and VA Hospital, both in OKC.
Elizabeth loved to sing. She was an opera singer and member of her church choir at First Presbyterian Church of OKC and the Canterbury Choral Society.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Mary Anderson and Martha Gilbert. She is survived by her son Kenneth Gladden & his wife Melissa, several nieces and nephews, numerous other family members and friends, and her precious dog Sandy.
Visitation will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Friday, from 9 am to 8 pm. Funeral services will be 2 pm, Saturday, June 29, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church 1001 NW 25 Street, Oklahoma City, with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Elizabeth’s memory may be made to the First Presbyterian Church choir and/or Canterbury Choral Society.
