He was born January 28, 1948 to Ernest and Willa (Newport) Lamb. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1966. He proudly fought in Vietnam with the United States Army for 2 years. Shortly after returning from the war he met and married his beloved wife of 41 years, Alice Dawn (Mainus), on December 4, 1969.
Bill and Alice Dawn called Harrah, Oklahoma their home for most of their married life until recently moving to Blanchard.
Many memories were made spending time with his wife and daughter, friends and family, whether at the races, spending time at the lake, camping, fishing or hunting. He proudly taught his grandson, Branch, how to deer and turkey hunt. All the while allowing his granddaughter, Brooke, to place bows and ribbons in his hair. He was the portrait of the perfect grandfather.
All who had the pleasure of meeting and knowing Willie knew him for his honesty and integrity. He lived his life by the gesture of a hand shake. His word was his promise.
Bill was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Kevin Lamb. He is mourned by his mother, Willa Lamb; his wife, Alice Lamb; daughter, Melissa Garner; brothers, Gary Lamb and his wife Lori, Mark Lamb and his wife, Carol, and Mike Lamb; grandchildren, Branch and Brooke Garner; and many other loving family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Advantage South Chapel.
Interment will be Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Brent Cemetery just outside of Sallisaw, Oklahoma.

Broken Chain
by Ron Tranmer
We little knew the day that
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn't go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories.
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one
the chain will link again.
