William Henry Garrett, 80, passed away January 28, 2011. Bill was born October 12, 1930 in Oklahoma City and was the son of Henry J. and Doris Garrett. He was a graduate of Central High School, attended the University of Oklahoma where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and graduated from OCU with a degree in Economics. Bill was a commercial real estate appraiser and as a member of M.A.I. was the recipient of many honors and accolades throughout his distinguished career. He also owned and managed Meadowbrook Office Park. Bill was a member of the Kiwanis Club and longtime member of the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club and Nichols Hills United Methodist Church. For the past several years, Bill greatly enjoyed his time with his "Panera Gang" friends, always looking forward to his morning coffee and spirited conversations. Known for his quick wit and desert dry sense of humor, infectious laugh, and incredible generosity Bill will be dearly missed by family, friends and colleagues. Bill blessed his large and extended family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, in-law and uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bob. He is survived by his loving wife Ann, his sister Doris Tatum and husband Bud, and sister-in-law Eleise Garrett. Bill's legacy also includes five children, 12 grandchildren and one great grandson - daughter Linda Holleman and husband Robert, grandchildren Lucas Holland, Matthew Holland, Bethany Holland Bodley, Cody Holleman and great grandson Brock Bodley; son Tom Garrett and wife Leanne, grandsons Travis Garrett and Casey Stahl; daughter Cheryl Fraley and husband Tom, grandchildren Garrett and Claire; daughter Cathy Betterton and husband Keith, grandchildren Annemarie Edmonds and Jackson Edmonds; daughter Betsy McDowell and husband Jim, granddaughters Catherine Martinez and Claire McDowell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family also wishes to give special thanks to Bill's marvelous caregiver, Michael Ellsworth. Services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Nichols Hills United Methodist Church, 1212 Bedford Drive, Oklahoma City. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill's honor to Nichols Hills United Methodist Church.
