Vernon Penny

C. Vernon Penny passed away June 28, 2011. He was born September 25,1927 to Clarence E. and Marguerite Penny in Oklahoma City. Vernon graduated from Classen High School in 1944 and Oklahoma City University. He attended Oklahoma University where he majored in Geology. He was honorably discharged from the Army Air Force in 1946. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sonia, and by his parents and older brother James R. Penny and his wife Helen. He is survived by his son, Charles N. Penny and his sister Margaret A. Swanson and husband Howard. He is also survived by his nieces Jimmie Sears and husband Hardy, Vicky Langford and husband William, Lisa Rowlette and husband Chris and nephew, Michael L. Penny. He had three great nieces and four great nephews, as well as 6 great-great nieces and nephews. Vernon loved to travel the world and lived in Venezuela and Libya as well as traveling to many other countries. His family wishes to thank the staff at Concordia Skilled Nursing for their excellent care during his final illness. He will be missed by his family and his Church family at Church of the Savior. Visitation for Vernon will be Friday, July 1, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Guardian West Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Sat. July 2, 2011 at Memorial Park Cemetery at 9:30am, followed by a Memorial Service at Church of the Savior. Memorials may be sent to Church of the Savior, 5600 NW 63rd Street, Oklahoma City, Ok 73132.
