As an infant of three years old, Thomas was known to sing for pennies. His youth was spent helping his family by working in the fields with them and then as a teenager he would join his father at the cannery in California. At the age of 17, Thomas became a Merchant Marine serving our country in WWII. Before his retirement at the age of 58, he worked for Lee Way Trucking Company as a Driver and Dock Worker.
Thomas married Betty Joyce James in 1960. Betty and Thomas started attending the Portland Avenue Baptist Church of Oklahoma City in 1963 and remained dedicated church members. Thomas will be remembered for his generous and loving spirit. Throughout his life he served his family as well as others.
Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Betty Rose; son, David Rose and wife Janet; daughter, Dana Seger; Grandchildren, Danielle Gonzales and her husband Tyler, Autumn and Brooks Rose, Rebecca and Robert Seger, Matthew, Kelsey and Katelyn Ledford; one great-grandson, born August 1, 2013, Brody James Gonzales. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sterling and sister, Terri; his son, Gary Rose and a grandson, Dustin Brewer.
Thomas encouraged others to rejoice toward his approaching the end, a testament to his faith. His true passion in life was in service and giving to others. He will be greatly missed.
