Susan Jean (Hoyt) Manchester, 73, of Oklahoma City passed away peacefully at her home on January 22, 2024. Susan was born to Frederick John Hoyt and Jean Frances (Ball) Hoyt on July 15, 1950, in Oklahoma City.
Susan graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1968 and from Oklahoma State University with a major in art in 1972. Although Susan was an extremely talented and accomplished artist, in the late ‘70s, she sought a different path, and in 1980, she earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
Susan began her legal career at the Office of the Oklahoma State Attorney General, where she was the Chief of the Appellate Criminal Division. She then proudly served as a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee for the Western District of Oklahoma for the remaining 30 years of her professional career.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Christopher Alan Hoyt of Homestead, Florida, and the love of her life, Robert A. Manchester III.
Susan is survived by her daughter, Andrea Bernardy; stepson, Robert A. Manchester IV and his children, Robert A. Manchester V and Holden W. Manchester, of Oklahoma City; her aunt, Jan Hoyt Dameron of Tulsa; her cousin, Lisbeth (Stan) Alexander of Oklahoma City, Lisbeth and Stan’s son Christopher Alexander, and Lisbeth and Stan’s daughter Ann (Russ) Morton.
Services will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper on January 31st, 2024, at 2:00PM in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Oklahoma Humane Society would be appreciated.
