Chris, as she was known to family and friends passed away on June 5, 2023, at her daughter’s home in San Antonio from kidney failure. She was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on December 25, 1933, and grew up in Oklahoma City and her later years in Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents William Dave Bryant SR and Virgie Edna Bryant, brother William Dave Bryant JR, and sons David Hutcherson and Danny Ledford.
Chris was the loving mother of five children; David Hutcherson, Deena Lancaster, Danny Ledford, Donna Rowicki, and Debbie Jones; Grandmother to Krishna Hutcherson, Mark Hauser, Tyler Ledford, Aaron Smith, Casey Antis, Adam Rowicki, Brittney Fortuner and was the Great-grandmother of 12. Growing up we never really knew our names because since she gave us all names that started with “D” when we were in trouble, she would inevitably call us by anything but our name and throw out there “You know I’m talking to you.”
Mother was a very strong woman who could do whatever she set her mind to and was the saver of everything because you might need it someday! Family meant everything and she never met a stranger. She either liked you or she didn’t but you always knew where you stood. She raised us with the principles of the “school of hard knocks” and we are better because of it and have something we could teach our children. And yes, we do know that she walked 10 miles to school uphill in the snow and sleet, both ways. She loved all animals and took in every stray she could find including her beloved cat Joey and her dog Baby Doll and they loved her right back.
Our mother lived a good long life and did a lot of living in her 89 years. She traveled to every place she wanted to go. Had every job she wanted to have. Learned all that she wanted to learn. Those who knew her will miss her dearly, but we will be comforted by our memories of her, and we know we shall all meet again. We love you, Mom.
