Roy Charles Walker, III, Of Oklahoma City, age 59, passed away October 27, 2012. He was born April 14, 1953 in Oklahoma City to Kathryne and Roy Walker, Jr. He is preceded in death by his parents. Roy married Debbie Boring May 24, 1975. They met at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. Roy was an OSU cheerleader and a Wild Bunch Cowboy spirit group. He was in Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
Roy graduated from Putnam City High School in 1971 and played football. He received an associate’s degree at OSU. Roy worked for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission and Oklahoma Tax Commission as State auditor from 1976 to 1998.
Roy and Debbie were proud parents of 3 beautiful loving children Dustin, and twins Mindy and Rosty. Roy was a devoted father active in volunteering coaching youth sports, baseball, soccer, softball, football, and wrestling. He touched lives of countless youth in sports. Roy volunteered on the Satellite Athletic Association Board, Northwest Optimist, Putnam City North Wrestling Booster Club, University of Oklahoma Wrestling Oklahoma Open Tournament committee, Big XII Wrestling Tournament worker, and Olympic development USA Wrestling as an official referee.
Roy is survived by his wife Debbie, children Dustin and wife Stephanie and granddaughter Kyler of San Diego, CA. Twins Mindy of Oceanside, CA and Rosty and wife Elizabeth and grandchildren Abbi and Luke of Tulsa, OK. Uncle Luke and Aunt Jo Walker of Omaha, NE, Aunt Marylou Walker of Stillwater, Aunt Bunny Walker, Nicoma Park and numerous Walker cousins. Ruth Boring mother-in-law of Midwest City, brother and sisier-in-laws Jana and Gil Long of Scottsdale, AZ, David and Carla Boring of Woodlands, TX, Nancy and Tony Head of Carollton, GA, Jeff Boring of Broken Arrow, OK.
Carlen Walker, stepmother, step-sister Linda Stecker Smith McClintock, step-brothers Larry Stecker, and Bill Stecker and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy was a ballet dancer and performed at the Civic Center. He was a member of St. David's Church in his youth. Roy and Debbie were active at St. Christopher's Church.
Roy loved to laugh and be with people. His greatest joy was watching sons Dustin and Rosty wrestle for the University of Oklahoma and earn a Big XII Championship and daughter Mindy playing soccer at Oklahoma City University and named an All American playing in the NAIA Championship game.
Funeral Services are Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 10:00am at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Oklahoma City at 8701 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City.
Graveside services following at Resurrection Cemetery, 7800 NW Expressway.
A celebration of his life and catered reception will follow at Hilton Garden Inn, 2809 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City.
