James “Roy” Taylor returned to his Maker’s side on November 11, 2022. He was born on March 6, 1944 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Frederick Clifford Chevalier and Bonnie Lorene Graham, though he would be raised by Bonnie and Raymond Logan Taylor.
After graduating from high school in Cement, Oklahoma in 1962, he would go on to receive his Bachelors in Accounting from Central State University. He would work for Lucent Technologies as a manager, starting with the company in 1966 when it was known as Western Electric.
He would marry Sharon Colleen Denning Eakins on May 6, 1996. The pair were quite inseparable, often traveling together and both participating in square dancing with their group the “Swinging Rebels.”
Roy was a friendly and sociable man, the sort of man who never met a stranger. He was also the type of person who was willing to take on responsibilities within his communities – acting as president and treasurer for the Swinging Rebels. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason with the Freemasons Uriah Lodge #227 in Wheatland, Oklahoma, where he would also take on the role of treasurer in addition to being a Worshipful Master.
He loved his family dearly, his children were all a great source of joy as were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also made sure to find time to visit old friends in Cement, Oklahoma. Whether it was meeting for breakfast or other fun activities, Roy always made sure to make time for everyone in his life. His church family at Crossings Church will miss his kind heart and gentle spirit.
