Rose Marie (Rosie) Avant, of Piedmont, returned to her heavenly home on April 4, 2023. She was born on July 5, 1935 at the family home in Orlando, Oklahoma to William E. and Lydia (Messall) Schrammel.
Throughout her formative years, she lived in Orlando with her family. She would move to Oklahoma City in the 1950s, where she would meet Donnie Avant. The pair would be married on November 5, 1956, sharing 55 wonderful years together until his passing in 2011. The family would ultimately settle in Piedmont in 1969.
Rosie had a long career with State Farm, working for the insurance company from 1977 to 1997. She also enjoyed attending First Baptist Church of Piedmont, as well as helping the Zelda Roe Women’s Sorority with their charity events, raising money for numerous local charities.
Her perfect day consisted of time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She leaves behind a large hole in many hearts, but the wonderful memories she leaves behind will never fade.
Rosie is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lydia Schrammel, husband, Donnie Avant and son, Marty Avant.
To cherish her memory, she leaves behind her children, Mark Avant, spouse Viola, of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Marci Courtney, spouse Patrick, of Piedmont, Oklahoma, and Micky Avant, spouse Becky, of Piedmont, Oklahoma; brother, Bill Schrammel, spouse Sue, of Perry, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Ashley Lankford, Amy Campbell, Ayla Avant, Alisha Williams, and Mason Avant; as well as five great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
A funeral service in honor of Rosie will be on Thursday April 6, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Piedmont, 15 Jackson Ave NW, Piedmont, Oklahoma 73078.
