Ronald John Nelson passed away peacefully on December 28th, 2016 after a battle with cancer. Ron was born in Loyal, Wisconsin to Martha and Everett Nelson on October 11, 1934. The family moved to Southern California in 1935. Ron attended schools in the South Bay in California and graduated from a community college with an Associates Degree. Ron met Patty in late 1987 and they were married in September 1988. Patty and Ron recently celebrated 28 years of marriage. Ron is survived by his wife, Patty, son Richard and wife Jamie, stepchildren Angie Simonton and husband Andrew, Jeff McCanlies and wife Laura, grandchildren Miranda Teets and husband Chris, Scott Simonton, Sam and Rex McCanlies, great-grandchildren Kane, Hudson and Jude Teets, his brother Allan and his wife Maria, his sister Darlene Choate and many nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.
Ron worked for Southern California Edison for over 30 years. After retirement he contracted his electrical services for another 10 years. Ron was an avid car enthusiast. He owned a classic 1932 Ford Roadster for 56 years and rebuilt it bumper to bumper three times over the that time period. In addition, he built a 1940 Ford pickup truck and both vehicles won many awards. Ron and Patty moved to Oklahoma City after Ron’s retirement to be with their children and grandchildren. Ron will always be loved and missed by his family and friends.
