

Rocky Wayne Moody, 54, died May 3, 2013, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He passed away at his home in Oklahoma City, surrounded by those who loved and cared for him. He was born in Perry, OK, on June 24, 1958, to Roger and Shirley Duncan Moody.
Rocky grew up in Midwest City, where he graduated from Carl Albert High School in 1976. After high school, he began his career for Southwestern Bell, then AT&T, where he worked for 35 years. He retired in 2012. He also spent a great deal of time working with and volunteering for the United Way.
His partner and best friend, Jeff Gaughan, preceded Rocky in death. They spent 27 fabulous years together, and Rocky often said they were the happiest years of his life.
Rocky is survived by his parents, Roger and Shirley Moody of Midwest City and his brother Scott Moody and wife Kim of Midwest City. He also leaves behind Jeff’s siblings Joanne Gaughan Phillips of Tulsa, OK, Mary Ann Gaughan Hendel and husband Steve of Florissant, MO, and David Gaughan and wife Kathy of Houston, TX. Surviving nieces and nephews include Taylor Moody, Michael Moody, April & Jeremy Rinner, Alyssa Phillips, Stephanie & Brian Byrne, Matt Hendel & Steven Cook, Jenny & Keith Norton, Mike & Julia Gaughan, and Andy Gaughan, along with six great-nephews and 1 great-niece.
In addition, he is survived by many longtime friends that loved and supported him throughout his life, as well as his precious furry friends, Stella and Elaine, who brought him much comfort and joy.
Rocky loved the outdoors and spent lots of time landscaping his home with plants and flowers. His creativity was expressed in his beautiful surroundings, from his home, to a vacation cabin, or even a tent at a campsite. His life was filled with laughter, travel, and friends. Rocky thoroughly enjoyed every moment of life spent with the wonderful people around him. He had an extensive collection of pigs from around the world which has entertained family and friends for years and will likely continue to do so.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 18th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel in Oklahoma City. Contributions may be made in Rocky’s memory to the American Cancer Society or to your favorite charity.
