

Robert Fred Richart, 80, of Oklahoma City, died peacefully June 4, 2010. Bob was born in Duluth, MN on May 30, 1930 to parents L. Fred Richart and Zaida Swanson Richart. He grew up on a dairy farm in Solon Springs, Wisconsin. In 1953, he graduated from Wisconsin State College, Superior, joined the US Army and married Rose Hendry, also from Solon Springs. He served in the military from 1953-1956 in southern Germany. Following his years of service, he was employed in Duluth, MN by Western Electric. In 1958, he and his family were transferred by Western Electric to Oklahoma City. In 1964, continuing his education, Bob graduated with a master’s degree from Oklahoma City University. He worked at Western Electric until his retirement in 1989. Bob was an active member at Metropolitan Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and served on the board as an elder for many years. He was also an active member of Gideons, International throughout his adult life. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, traveling, woodworking, and playing games. He is survived by his wife Rose Hendry Richart to whom he was married 56 plus years, daughter Diane Majors of Bellingham, WA and family; son Don Richart of OKC and family; and son Doug Richart of Shawnee, OK and family. Other surviving siblings and family members include Irma and Dick Tooley of Lake Ann, MI; Lucy and Jerry Linsmeyer of Solon Springs, WI; David and Carol Richart of Lodi, WI; along with their families and numerous other extended family members and friends. Memorials may be made to Gideons, International or to the charity of your choice. Visitation will be at Chapel Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 from 8am-8pm. Services will be 2pm Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Metropolitan Baptist Church.
