Rita Lea Owens passed away July 30, 2018 in Oklahoma City. She was born March 16, 1939 in Carter, Oklahoma to Earnest Jones and Oleta (Ward) Jones Russell. Rita was a graduate of Elk City High School and attended Oklahoma Baptist University. It was there that she met her husband of 59 years, Elbert Owens. Together they had two children, Barry and Kelly.
Rita loved spending time with her family-especially her grandkids. She also spent many hours volunteering at First Baptist Church of Clinton coordinating the children's bus ministry. Rita "Mimi" Owens was proudest of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Dona McGilberry of Elk City.
Rita is survived by her husband Elbert of the home; children Barry Owens and wife Tiffani of Broken Arrow, OK and Kelly McCoy and husband Kevin McCoy of Edmond, OK; grandchildren Lindsey Craig and husband Samuel of Edmond, Lexi Faught of OKC, Mitchell Owens of Broken Arrow, Braxton Owens of Broken Arrow, and great grandchildren William Craig and Georgia Craig.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, August 2, 2018, at the First Baptist Church of Clinton with interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Oklahoma City, OK.
