He was born April 22, 1937 in New York City to parents Nancy & Joseph Spelleri. He Graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx and worked in New York where he met and married the love of his life, Ann Brazzel in 1961. He served in the Army at Ft. Hood Texas where he received The Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service in 1963. Upon his return from military service he began a career with Genuine Parts Company where he built a successful and rewarding career and gained many lifelong friendships. He left Genuine Parts to become President of Big A Auto Parts in Houston, TX. He retired while working with Echlin of Branford, CT in 1998.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Ann, daughter and son in law Diane and John Foster of Oklahoma City, sister Anita Squeglio of Sarasota FL, brother Robert Spelleri of Milpitas ,CA, brother Ron Spelleri of Bullhead City, AZ and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Richard and Ann built a beautiful home in North Augusta, SC where they played countless rounds of golf together and enjoyed the company of each other as well as new and lifelong friends. Health issues cut these times short and they moved to Oklahoma City to be near their daughter. Even while battling his own health issues he remained dedicated to the care of his beloved wife and daughter. His sense of humor prevailed even when faced with the most trying circumstance.
A private remembrance will be held at the family home in Oklahoma City on Friday, June 3rd from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the S.P.C.A., American Cancer Society or to the charity of one’s choice. The family would like to thank all those who helped Dick through this time from the medical professionals to the thoughts and prayers from his many friends.
