He was a man who loved well and was well loved. He loved God, he loved his family, he loved his many friends, and he loved his work. He was known for his kindness, his wit, his generosity, and his servant’s heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
He was born Richard Bruce McLain on November 19, 1939, to Vera and Bruce McLain in Grandfield, Oklahoma. He married his childhood sweetheart, Donna Rinehart, while they were attending Oklahoma State University. They were happily married for 64 years. They began their family shortly after they graduated from OSU. They were the proud parents of two sons, Scott and Steve.
After graduation Bruce and Donna moved to Wichita Falls, Texas where Bruce began his career in banking. He was president of Southwest Bank in Wichita Falls and president of Premier Bank in Dallas, Texas. After 30 years, he left banking and became a partner in The Balcom Agency, an advertising firm in Fort Worth, Texas. He retired from The Balcom Agency in 2014. After retirement, Bruce and Donna moved to Edmond Oklahoma to be near family.
Bruce was a man of faith and always active in his church and in his community. When asked how he would like to be remembered he said he would like to be remembered as someone who helped others.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, son Scott and wife Dana, of Edmond, son Steve and wife Lisa of Wentzville, Missouri, his much loved grandchildren, Will, Hillary, Matt, Maci, Josh, Sammie Jo, Sam, Hannah, and Nic, and his great grandchildren, Cooper, Quade, and Eli.
