Richard Terry Christensen, known to those who knew him best as Chris or Bubby, left this earth for a much better place on October 20, 2021. He was born January 27, 1940 in Clovis, New Mexico, the oldest of four children born to Fay and Lila Lee (Looper) Christensen.
At a very early age of 13, Chris began working for his father who had a drug store. Chris would deliver all the medications for the customers all over west Texas. It was during these deliveries that Chris developed the love of driving. At around the age of 20 he started drag racing and he continued racing for the next 60 years. He passed the love of the sport on to his son Richard and they often raced together.
After high school, Chris enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and learned how to work on jet engines. He was always good with any kind of engine. He went on to work for General Services Administration for over 30 years before retiring. At GSA, he worked as a fleet services manager.
Chris married Stephanie Maxey in 1997. Together they enjoyed a full life raising their two children and enjoying their grandchildren.
Chris is survived by his loving wife Stephanie Christensen; two children Richard Christensen and daughter Kristina Maxey; two grandchildren Addison and Wyatt; siblings Candy Haymes, Cindy Christensen, Kim Christensen; one niece; three nephews and their families.
A Celebration of Life service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 29, 2021 at The Gathering Church, 8601 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73162
